Today's entry is a little special because the Doctor that I am going to introduce you to actually did not start her journey at Ross. My friend, Dr. Yanet Diaz started her medical journey at SABA, another Caribbean medical school, before deciding to transfer to Ross for her clinical years. Although I am certain that SABA was sad to lose her, I am so thrilled that she decided to transfer, so I would come to know and love her beautiful soul! Before starting her medical journey at SABA, Dr. Yanet began her journey to medicine all the way back in her native country of Cuba. She then moved to Miami when she was young and although she still considers herself Cuban through and through, she has warmly accepted the title of a Floridian. Her path to medicine was motivated by her genuine care and concern of the well-being of others, and her desire to provide help to the sick and most vulnerable populations during their time of need. Although her favorite Marvel Superhero is the handsome Thor, I would jump over to the DC comic universe and really consider her more of a Wonder Woman. In addition to excelling in medical school, she has also done while being a full-time devoted wife and loving mother to toddler Brandon. She is incredibly excited to be staying at home in Miami for residency at her #1 Choice, Kendall Regional for Internal Medicine. Yanet and I became fast friends during our Internal medicine foundations and then as we continued on during our clinicals in South Florida, and just as she was always to greet me with her sweet smile and a hug, I know her huge heart will make her an incredible physician in the future.
